Ayres Muffler Brake & Alignment Wants to Remind You to Always Have a Professional Check It
This is a GT500 Shelby Mustang with only 16,000 mile on it. The owner was keeping it more as a collector’s item and rarely drove it.
Unfortunately, he was involved in an accident. As you can see in the first picture there is minimal body damage. In the second picture you can clearly see the damage done to the rear axle. The rear end is broken and will have to be replaced.
Please remember to always be aware of your surroundings and drive safe!

Ayres Muffler Brake & Alignment Can Align Your RV
In addition to street cars and classic cars, Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment repairs RV’s.
Initially the customer came in for a front wheel alignment. Upon inspection it was discovered the king pin was showing excessive up and down play. Because the customer came in right away we only had to re-shim the king pins. In most cases the customer ignores the issue for so long, a complete replacement is required.

Ayres Muffler Brake & Alignment Can Upgrade Your Classic Car
Here is a 1957 Chevrolet Half Ton Pickup. As you might notice in the video this ’57 Chevy has a modified suspension.
We replaced and upgraded the exhaust system as well as upgraded the wheels. As part of replacing and upgrading the wheels, we will mount and balance all four wheels and then get them back up on the truck. Once we finish the exhaust, this classic will be back up and running, ready for Hot August Nights.

Always Have a Professional Double Check!
Here is an example of a customer that was in a minor car accident and the body showed very minimal damage, but the back tire looked a little crooked. He brought it in to the body shop “just in case”. They took one look underneath and brought it straight to Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment.
This 2015 Honda CRV looked OK but had a bent suspension underneath. Because all of the newer cars are built on a unibody instead of a frame, additional parts are needed. All the parts of the suspension that keep your tires in place are mounted on a piece called a cradle. This customer’s back cradle was bent causing the tire to sit at an angle. If left unchecked, this could have caused major damage to the tire, wheel, brake system and more!
With this harsh weather that just won’t stop, please remember to slow down and if you should happen to hit anything come get it checked. Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment always offers free tire, brake and front end inspections. Better safe than sorry! Tire Replacement on AWD Vehicles
At Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment a common issue we run into is tire replacements on All Wheel Drive (AWD) Vehicles. Unfortunately as any driver knows on occasion for one reason or another you end up with a flat tire. For drivers with Front Wheel Drive as long as the rest of the tires are in pretty good shape we can replace the flat tire, and they are on their way. Sadly, the same is not true for AWD vehicles.
Replacing Just One Tire on an All-Wheel Drive Vehicle Can Be Dangerous and Much More Expensive in the Long Run.
If the tread on the new tire is more than a 2/32” off from the old tires, the tire could ruin your transmission or possibly your whole drivetrain.
How could this happen?
One reason is because the wheels with the older tires have to work harder and spin faster than the wheel with the new tire. This extra stress on your wheels can result in issues with the transmission and axles leaving you with expensive repairs.
The second concern is when the old wheels are moving faster the electronics in your car may read that the wheels are slipping and put your car in the wrong gear to compensate. If your car is put into four-wheel lock on pavement or at high speeds it will cause damage to your car leaving you with costly repairs.
If you are in doubt or have questions, bring your AWD vehicle over to Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment and we will inspect your tires for free.

Do You Need New Tires?
You made it through the first storm. Do you feel safe to make it through the next one?
Here is how to check your tires.
Checking Your Tires is Easy
1- Check your air pressure
- It’s quick and can prevent many problems
- Do it once a month
2- Check the tread wear with one of these four methods:
- With a tread depth gauge
- With the tread wear indicators
- With the penny test
- Come into Ayres Muffle Brake and Alignment and for a free inspection
One easy way to check for wear is by using the penny test. All you have to do is grab your spare change and follow 3 easy steps.
- Take a penny and hold Abe’s body between your thumb and forefinger.
- Select a point on your tire where tread appears the lowest and place Lincoln’s head into one of the grooves.
- If any part of Abe Lincoln’s head is covered by the tread, you’re driving with the legal and safe amount of tread. If your tread gets below that (approximately 2/32 of an inch), your car’s ability to grip the road in adverse conditions is greatly reduced.
