Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment can Align Almost Anything!

Even race cars!

In the photos you can see Ayres employees working on the front and rear alignment for an Elva race car. The devices attached to each of the tires measure the tip, casters, camber and toe ends of each wheel and then displays them on a monitor so they can go in and adjust each wheel for optimal efficiency.

AYRES-alignment-elva-race-carAligning tires on a race car is different than a street car. Street car owners are usually most concerned with consistent wear of their tires to extend their longevity. In contrast, these tires might make it through one race so they align them differently, regularly on specific specs from Ayres customers.

This customer for example will often give Ayres different alignment parameters for different tracks. They have different concerns than owners of a street car. Their goal is proper handling on the track. They want their cars fast and able to take the corners even faster.

If you have a race car or a street car that seems to pulling to the left or right, your tires show signs of uneven wear or when you are driving straight you steering wheel is crooked it is probably time to give Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment a call to schedule an alignment.

Mention you saw this on Facebook to get a street car front and rear wheel alignment for only $79.95!

How Much Can a Wheel Be?

We thought we would have a little fun with this. One of our customers came in with a bent wheel (see photo). Their car was a bit more unique than most, a 2007 Bentley Continental GT350. So how much do you suppose a wheel could cost?

$4,500

Just to replace the wheel that doesn’t include tire or the labor to put it on!

Muffler Replacement

Here is an example of a muffler repair at Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment. This is a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. The owner was unfortunately rear-ended causing extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle. In addition to replacing the muffler, Ayres fabricated custom piping for the muffler to properly fit in place.

How does Ayres fabricate custom piping?

Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment has a special machine called an Exhaust Pipe Bender. This machine allows us to bend the pipe to whatever angle or direction is needed to ensure the best fit and air movement for a customer’s car.

In addition to repair, Ayres offers multiple muffler options to upgrade your vehicle. We can change the look, design and sound of your muffler. Is it too loud or too quiet for your liking?

Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment can fix that!

Tire Replacement on AWD Vehicles

At Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment a common issue we run into is tire replacements on All Wheel Drive (AWD) Vehicles. Unfortunately as any driver knows on occasion for one reason or another you end up with a flat tire. For drivers with Front Wheel Drive as long as the rest of the tires are in pretty good shape we can replace the flat tire, and they are on their way.  Sadly, the same is not true for AWD vehicles.

Drivetrain, transmission drawing

Replacing Just One Tire on an All-Wheel Drive Vehicle Can Be Dangerous and Much More Expensive in the Long Run.

If the tread on the new tire is more than a 2/32” off from the old tires, the tire could ruin your transmission or possibly your whole drivetrain.

How could this happen?

One reason is because the wheels with the older tires have to work harder and spin faster than the wheel with the new tire. This extra stress on your wheels can result in issues with the transmission and axles leaving you with expensive repairs.

The second concern is when the old wheels are moving faster the electronics in your car may read that the wheels are slipping and put your car in the wrong gear to compensate. If your car is put into four-wheel lock on pavement or at high speeds it will cause damage to your car leaving you with costly repairs.

If you are in doubt or have questions, bring your AWD vehicle over to Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment and we will inspect your tires for free.

Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment Has a Rack for You

At Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment we have three different types of racks to best work on your car, truck, bus, motorhome, commercial vehicle and more.

The first and most common is held by the tires or wheel assembly. This is the one you can easily drive up on and then your car is lifted. (Sorry you cannot stay in the car while it is being lifted) This rack is best to work on your exhaust system, brakes and front end.

The second rack uses frame contact to lift your vehicle. Two arms swing left and right to allow for best placement on each vehicle so Ayres Muffler Brake and Alignment is able to pick up your car without damaging it. The frame contact lift is best used for tire replacement or service, tire rotations and suspension work.

The third rack is a roll on rack, for larger commercial vehicles, motor homes / RV’s and buses to roll or drive unto with a pit underneath.  We can work on anything up to 14 feet!
